Stay focused on long-term impacts to the business, not quarterly ebbs and flows (02/15/07)

There is just a lot happening with all of the earnings announcements.  But as usual, I try to focus on the most significant things that can impact a company (or sector’s) long term future.  So yes, below I have included a snapshot of Asbury’s results and commentary on the earnings (especially since the headlines this morning seemed very misleading.)  But quarterly earnings will ebb and flow.  

However, ultimately the return is determined by the long term strategic initiatives that are put in place by management.  As a result, whenever a major announcement happens (like this morning) that Asbury’s CEO Ken Gilman is retiring, I think it deserves front and center attention ...
