Reports are coming across the wire that the UAW is going on strike against General Motors. If you notice, today's opening quote discusses union negotiations that took place between GM and the UAW in 1982. And in the article, I underlined the parts that said "historic" and "unprecedented." For the last 25 years the automakers have inked deals with the UAW that have been heralded as "historic" and "unprecedented." And time and again, the cuts have proven too little, too late. I commend GM management for standing their ground as they try to make the company cost competitive. Don't get me wrong, a strike is not easy.
