This morning, Asbury announced they have selected Arkona (by Dealer Track) as their Dealer Management System (DMS.) As you may recall, Asbury was going to go with Reynolds and Reynolds. But when Reynolds and Reynolds got acquired, it caused them to re-think the process. In today's release, Asbury's CEO Charles Asbury articulated similar comments that I quoted Gordon Smith discussing at the Thomas Weisel Conference. Specifically, that the key to the DMS is not the 50% cost savings, but the ability to have a common platform that can be integrated with sales, customer relationship management (CRM,) finance and insurance (F&I,) and other technology solutions.
