CarMax was named yesterday as one of the 100 best employers by Fortune magazine. Now I should point out how the rankings were determined (CarMax was #88.) The way you get in the rankings is you apply (Fortune received 488 applications this year) and allow Fortune to go in and conduct an anonymous survey of 400 employees. So in part, CarMax got in because they applied, and I suspect many of the other companies in the autoretailstocks.com index did not.
